2013 has arrived and brought with it a big change for me. You may or may not have noticed my absence lately. I have felt it daily, my absence. I’ve not blogged once in this new month and I’ve missed it terribly. I have particularly missed the cooking and eating part of writing a food blog. Do you remember back in the fall I began to do some work with Enjoy! a local gourmet food and kitchen store? What started out as an occasional catering gig to help out with their “Enjoy Nights” events has turned into a full-time position as manager of the store. Overnight I went from taking on sporadic foodie jobs to a 5 day a week foodie situation. This all came about very quickly and unexpectedly and I remain in somewhat of a fog about it.
I jumped in with both feet January 2 and worked the store for 4 days before heading off to Atlanta for the food and housewares market. I spent 6 entire days shopping the mart and boy did I get a taste, literally, of what is to come. Hundreds of vendors pushing their wares, urging buyers to taste samples of dips, breads, herbs, oils, teas, salsas, salts, candies, dressings, jams and jellies. The list is endless and I tasted just about all of them. There were numerous showrooms selling serving pieces, tea pots, utensils, kitchen towels, glassware, linens, bakeware, trivets, canisters, napkin rings, and the cutest little creamers I’ve ever seen. We bought cows, elephants, bunnies and bottles big and small for serving milk with your coffee. It was a brilliant way for me to immerse myself in the store and what is to come. Thanks to my new boss for having me tag along.
I returned home last night anxious to share my new adventure with you. The reality is I won’t be able to blog multiple times each week, but my goal is to visit with you at least once a week sharing recipes and bee adventures. I’ll be diving headfirst into my kitchen this weekend. With the winter weather we’re experiencing I’m hankering for the smell of fresh-baked bread filling my kitchen. I may even decide to bake several loaves and I’d love to try some of your recipes, so leave me a comment and link me up to your favorite bread recipe!
