Hello! My name is Linda and I write this blog. I live in the Lone Star state. My love of everything food and my recent acquisition of bees led me to write this blog.
I am a busy bee. A wife, mom, personal caterer, bee keeper, and teacher. Those I teach are short in stature and generally 4 to 5 years old. I also teach fitness classes to the baby boomer generation. Just in case that isn’t enough I chose to begin this blog for my own enjoyment and I hope yours.
When I have free time I enjoy bird watching, traveling, and of course trying new recipes or whipping up a few of the tried and true ones. I love to read and often spend time reading cookbooks or food related magazines. I keep a pair of binoculars close by and enjoy the challenge of identifying new birds and hawks which are abundant on our 4 acres, in the country. My love of traveling began in my early 20′s when I took my first trip to Yugoslavia, now known as Croatia, Kosovo, Slovenia, etc..where I was enthralled with the people as well as the Adriatic Sea. I’ve been fortunate to travel to many European countries, England, Canada, Mexico, Belize and many places in the U.S. My travels have broadened my food horizons, thankfully!
Watching the Dallas Mavericks shoot hoops is an interest I share with my adoring hubby. I enjoy other sports too but cheering for the Mavs ranks at the top!
My favorite pastime is hanging with my daughters and adoring hubby. We don’t need to be doing much of anything for me to have a smile on my face and a warmth in my heart. Time with my family paves the way to make life outstanding!

I am so glad that our paths crossed this week! I feel like I have learned so much about bees this week…more than I have ever known. To watch everything I have seen this week with my exciting bees I am so thankful that my husband and I decided to do the right thing.
and call you!! Thank you for helping us out and for teaching us about them. I can’t wait to try the delicious honey. I look forward to reading all your recipes on your blog. So thankful for new friends.
Thank you Keri – I too am glad our paths crossed. I’ve set your bees up in their own hive as when I opened the existing one there were tons of brood, meaning a queen is already in that hive. Quite different from when I looked last week! SO happy to add another sweet hive of bees to my apiary. I’ll try to remember to bring your honey to church on Sunday! Thanks for stopping by the blog – that salmon recipe with the honey jalapeno glaze is included in the blog recipes!
We actually might wait on the next batch of your honey since we have just bought a new jar. I would love to read updates on the hive you took from our home. I kind of got attached.
I am glad you had a spot for them!
No problem. I”ll be posting a story about the hive from your home in a few days. Stay tuned!
I have almost licked my jar of honey clean! I snatched up a jar several months ago at the gym and if you have any hanging around-I need it!!! It is soooo delicious. Thanks for offering it. -Jess
Hi Jess..I teach every Thursday morning at 8:30. Email me at linda@theorangebee if you can be there and I’ll bring a jar of honey. It’s so good isn’t it? My bees are marvelous honey makers! Thanks for reading the blog – tell your friends too.
Linda, I am so glad to have met you today at Enjoy and look forward to trying many of your recipes! Loved looking at your photos too…..chef, photographer, teacher, wife, mother, you wear many hats….and you seem to wear them so well! Enjoyed our visit to the store today – your girls make it so much fun!
Blessings, cindy
Hi Cindy – Thanks so much for stopping by The Orange Bee. It was a delight to meet you and your friends today too! Hope y’all will come by often. I think you can hang your Italy photos in your new house after that deal is sealed. Yes, I think we should talk about a part-time job for you when you are ready. We have a blast working for Enjoy!! Hope to see you soon – and let me know if you try any Orange Bee recipes – I love feedback!
I started to worry when the first heap of posts were all soup… like you’re on a fad diet or something… then the next heap was all orange things, and I figured you’ve got a trend going…. a monthly thing is it?
Really enjoyed reading so many of your posts and bee things.. I adore bees… scared of them, of course, but they’re one of the smartest and amazing creatures alive
Catch you around
Hi Fati! So glad you stopped by. Yes, it’s turned into a trend thing that I may continue with this year – just for the challenge to myself. It’s nice to hear you say you adore bees – not everyone feels this way. I adore my bees. They are very important creatures
Lovely site – came over via Promenade Plantings and am now about to check out your orange recipes as we are swimming in citrus fruits here currently in Andalucia!
Welcome Chica! Citrus in case you didn’t notice is one of my favorite flavors and fragrances. How nice to be swimming in citrus fruit – fresh squeezed YUM!
Hello Linda, I am passing along the Liebster Award to you. I have created a permanent page for this award. Please refer the following link and spread the joy.

Oh! thank you!! I’ll get on that before the end of the weekend.
Hello Linda,
I stumbled onto your blog through another site and just scrolling down the home page fell in love with it. Your recipes feel so fresh and good to the soul. I think I am definately going to get some healthy recipes for lunch from your site…so you are going on my blogroll and follow list. keep the good stuff coming. cheers !
Why thank you Ashkitty! Happy to have you on board and nice to meet you.
Hi Linda,
Nice to meet another Linda! I believe the message you received was notifying you that I added a link to your Carrot and Ginger Soup on my Thanksgiving Corn Chowder post! You don’t need to approve that jumbled message (not sure why that happened)!
Thanks for such a quick reply and for the add! Thanksgiving is getting here waaaaay to quickly!
I am so jealous…I think having bees would be amazing. If nay we can buy some bigger land……dreaming….
Bex- Bee keeping is a fun hobby – the reward of honey is worth the work involved. If you lived closer I’d teach you how to do it.
Hi Linda,
I spoke with Dan earlier today. I have some “nice” bees for you to collect and use or share with friends. Please contact me for details. I gave some details to Dan, but am happy to facilitate further if needed. TKS/Anne
Thanks Anne – I’d love to come collect some “nice” bees. Those are the only kind I keep! I’ll be calling you on Friday.
What a cool site, Linda. And what a busy bee you are!
I hope that Lisa and I can grab some of your recipes and get-to-town.
Thanks and thanks for reading. Do try some of the recipes and do come to Texas for a visit. I’ll make dinner!
Linda,
I love the site. I’m so proud of you! I wish I had time to cook all the yummies I see here, but it’s not likely. Anyway, the pictures and your writing are quite satisfying. Keep up the good work…
Love ya,
donna
